Publications and Research (Pure) is Lancaster University's research information management system and is designed to collate information from numerous systems at Lancaster and display the information in one central location. The information is visible externally via Lancaster's Research Directory and internally through Pure.
Pure synchronises information from the following systems; Core (HR), LUSI (students), Agresso (awarded projects) and ACP/pFact (applications). Information from Pure is fed onto the Research Directory (also known as the Pure portal) and publications/profile information is reused on the departmental pages. The diagram below summarises these links.
To access the Lancaster Pure system please visit the Pure webpage. you should automatically be logged in through the CoSign system used by the university. If you are directed to a login page for Pure please contact rso-systems@lancaster.ac.uk.
Updating your information is easy; follow our helpful user guides and if you need further support please email RSO Systems.
Information stored in Pure is also used to populate departmental staff profile pages.
For help and support with Pure please contact: rso-systems@lancaster.ac.uk
Click for more information on Pure. All new proposals for externally funded research, regardless of value or funder, must be fully approved internally through the ACP costing system prior to submission to the funder. This requirement includes outline proposals and proposals submitted to the funder by another institution or organisation. The approval process at Lancaster has been set up specifically so that research proposals can be checked and reviewed to ensure that only high quality applications, which stand the best chance of success, are submitted by the university.
The university uses the Agresso ACP module as both a costing tool and for electronic approvals. Costings are prepared by RSO and Principal Investigators (PI) should automatically have access to the system to view costings once RSO have created them. ACP automatically distributes proposals for approval depending on the total amount of funding requested.
It is recommended that Principal Investigators request one-to-one training on ACP from Research Services.
Enquires about training and APC access should be directed to: rso-submissions@lancaster.ac.uk.
Visit the pre-award contact page for who to contact for advice and support on using ACP.
ResearchConnect is an up-to-the-minute online database detailing a range of funding opportunities available for universities and research institutions across the world.

Researchfish is an external system used by several funders to collate information about the outcomes of their funded projects. Funders using Researchfish include UKRI, NC3R’s and Cancer Research UK, (this list is not exclusive). A brief 2-minute introductory video on Researchfish can be found on YouTube.
Researchfish profiles are accessible year-round so team members can continuously update the information on the award throughout the year and can be accessed here: Researchfish
For more information on Researchfish check out dedicated webpage.Research Services collates management information about research grants and publishes annual reports for internal use. These are updated each September for the previous financial year (August-July). Reports are available for outline and full-stage applications as well as awarded grants broken down to faculty, lead department and Research Institute. The most recent reports are accessible below.
The Research Funding Management Tool is available for Associate Deans for Research and Heads of Departments for a live view of research funding activity. Please note access to these live reports is restricted, if you believe you need access please contact Helen Brace.
Using this tool you’ll be able to see data for application submissions and awarded grants up to the most recently ended month. You can select to view by lead department, contributing department or Research Institute and can drill down into the data by month, year and funding source. The reports also show the current known success rates of grant applications. These reports are automatically updated daily pulling information directly from ACP and Agresso, as the data set is continually updated the totals may not match the Research Services' annual reports below (these show the agreed figures for each year).
For queries concerning the Research Services annual reports or the Research Funding Management Tool please contact Helen Brace.
